Steve Business Trip to Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Steve was a top insurance agent in the State of Indiana when he worked at Keach and Grove Agency. This picture is from 1973 when he and other agents were flown into Milwaukee, Wisconsin for a meeting at the Milwaukee Insurance Company. He was one of their top agents.

FORTY-NINE YEARS AGO TODAY THIS FAMILY BEGAN

Forty-nine years ago today was a hot day in a little country church that had no air-conditioning! That was the day Steve and I got married in Avoca, Indiana and this crazy little family began. Through five states, the USAF, three children and seven grandchildren our life has been quite an adventure.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVE

Happy 68th birthday to Steve. I'm sure he will celebrate his day by reading a book, his favorite thing to do. This evening we will go to Cindy's for a small celebration. I enjoy teasing him by calling him the old man for the next few months until I join him at 68. Even though his health isn't what it used to be (it has remained steady the past few years) he is content reading, get out once in awhile and spending time enjoying the grandkids.

RIDING THE TRAIN FROM GRAPEVINE TO FORT WORTH

Samantha and Steffinee at the depot before departure.

On Monday ten of us boarded the train in Grapevine and rode in the old-fashion first class car to The Fort Worth Stockyards. We all had a great day. It has been great having Janet and Stacy visiting. We are sorry to see them leave today.

VETERANS FAIR

More pictures of the Veterans Fair today. I had to force Steve to go then on the way to the car he said, "Thank you for bringing me". He told me he was really glad he went and I think it was very good for him. Thank God for a beautiful day.

Thanks to our Congressman Kenny Marchant and the City of Grapevine, Texas for a great Veterans Fair today. The food was great (free makes it even better!), the music was very good, and the booths were all helpful. We got a lot of information, added Steve's name to our Congressional District Wall of Honor and he thoroughly enjoyed visiting with other veterans, especially the Air Force ones. He talked to some pilots who flew the 111, the aircraft he was a crew chief on and some who were stationed at Nellis AFB as he was. So glad it was a very pretty day that he could be out and enjoy himself.

The USO did a great job. Thank you USO.

Entrance to the fair.

If you didn't know better you would have thought the Andrews Sisters were there singing their famous WWII songs.

GEORGE WILSON FAMILY June 1989

This is a picture of George and Ilene Wilson with their children, in-laws, and grandchildren that was taken in June of 1989. Cindy Wilson (Hart) is the only one not pictured. I can't remember why. Maybe she was back in Texas involved with a job or something at Baylor. Or perhaps Troy had stopped by and she left with him. Do you remember, Cindy?

Left to right (not by row) - Doug Hanner, Trina Ritter (Hanner), Janet Wilson (Ritter), Ron Ritter, Stacy Ritter, Christy Wilson (Bowman), Chad Wilson, Steve Wilson, Linda (Sowders) Wilson, Kristen Wilson, Becky Wilson (Barrett) holding her daughter Gina and arm around son Derrick, Eddie Barrett, Ilene (Watson) Wilson holding grandson Tyler, George Wilson, and Donald Wilson.

AT JFK'S GRAVE

My kids and grandkids are going to love this one. A high school classmate posted this picture of your Uncle Ronnie Ritter, your dad/papaw and me standing at John F Kennedy's grave. We were on our Senior Trip in 1965. Yes, we were young once - a long time ago!

48th Wedding Anniversary

Forty-eight years ago Steve and I were married in our little country church in Southern Indiana. We left a few days later to begin our married life in Clovis, New Mexico where he was to be stationed at Cannon Air Force Base. It was a perfect little town for two country bumpkins to begin military life. Over 48 years, life in 5 states, 3 children and 7 grandchildren our lives have been full. Below is a picture of our first home at 1208 Walnut St, Clovis, NM. I loved this little adobe house with its slate roof. That was quite unique to an Indiana girl.

Isabell is Our Second March Birthday

Since Isabell is our second March birthday (her's is two days after Rodney's)I will feature a picture of her today. This is a picture of her a few months after she was found and Mary flew to Oregon to get her. It is one of my earliest pictures of her. She was three in this picture of her with Papaw, Samantha, and Carlos. They are all wearing their clothes the Harts had just brought them from one of their Hawaiian vacations. She was so proud of that dress.

Memories at The O'Quinns!

Came across this picture today and was reminded of all the good times we have had with Mike and Linda O'Quinn over the years. We met in the Air Force many, many years ago and have such good memories of good times together. This picture was taken February 10, 1991.

Steve (with Linda and Dustin) at ICE November 2013

In honor of Steve's birthday coming up Friday, here is a recent picture of him taken in November when we took Dustin to ICE at the Gaylord Texan. There was a lot of walking involved so he had to use his walker. I love January when I can call him the "old man" before I catch up to him in 4 months!
