Samantha Ready for The Meyerson Symphony Center

Saturday Lindsay's CTMS band performed at the Meyerson Symphony Center in Downtown Dallas.  Samantha was so excited that she got to go, she wanted her picture taken before she left.  BTW, she enjoyed it very much.  I couldn't go so I told her to take good care of Papaw for me (they went with Cindy and Rodney).  Steve said when they got there Samantha got out of the car and reached for his hand to help him along!

Lauren and Friends at Gateway Arch

When Lauren and the GHS choir made the recent trip to Chicago they went by bus.  On their way back to Texas they stopped at the Gateway Arch in St. Louis at 4:30am so all the Seniors could get a picture with the arch.  What a great Senior memory for Lauren!

Lindsay's On The Road Again

Good luck to our traveling V-ball player!  This weekend Lindsay and Cindy are in Kansas City for another National Qualifier Vball tournament.  I don't even try to keep up with Cindy's family anymore as they are too busy for me.  They know where I am and can contact me when they need to!  Good luck Lindsay and the whole Tejas team!  Some update messages are anticipated here in Grapevine.

One of my favorite bakeries in West.  My thoughts and prayers are with this small town where we always stopped for goodies when going back and forth to Waco when Cindy was a student at Baylor University.  Looking forward to do so again when Lauren goes to Baylor this Fall.

A Tableful of Trophies!

Lauren sent me a picture of the trophies they won this past weekend in Chicago.  Again, Congratulations to the Grapevine High School Choir.  Lauren said she had so much fun.   I am so glad she had such a good experience here at the end of her Senior year!  Memories to be cherished later in life!

So proud of Lauren and the Grapevine High School choir.  I know you think I am just another bragging grandma at times (and I am!) but this weekend at the National Chorale Competition in Chicago, the GHS choir was rated 1st place in all of its divisions.  They got 5 gold medals, had the outstanding male vocalist,  and was the overall Grand Champion!  Way to go Lauren and fellow choir members!  So proud of you!

Carlos' birthday was Thursday but we celebrated last night at - his choice - Golden Corral.  Mary and Chad did a great job making him a football field cake with little Teddy Graham bears dressed in his team's colors.  One would never guess he is a football player and fan!

Becky Is About to Have a Birthday!

My sister Becky Sue Sowders Hargis is about to have a birthday!  This is a picture of her taken in 1954 when she was 4 years old.  Her birthday will be this Friday.  I haven't spent a birthday with her since 1982 but I always think of her especially in April.  Love you Becky.

So ready to see fields of bluebonnets.  They are starting to appear but I am ready to see fields of them like these from the past.  There is nothing any prettier than fields of Texas Bluebonnets!

Steve Lookin' Good

One of the things that seems a little strange about Steve's dementia is his desire to get all dressed up from time to time.  Most of the time he couldn't care less about his appearance anymore.  One of the things about dementia is a tendency to go back to things from early in life.  Evidently this is the case for him and Easter.  He must remember wearing little Easter suits as a boy. He started telling me on Friday what he planned to wear to church Easter Sunday.  And sure enough, two hours before time to leave for church he was all dressed up in suit and tie.  He really does look good when he gets all dressed up so I took a picture for his family and friends out of state to see him all dressed up and looking good.
