Texas Rangers Game

Chad took this picture of Mary and Samantha at last night's Texas Rangers Game.  Samantha is sitting next to one of the teen girls from church that she is so fond of.  They went with a large group from church and had a great time.  The kids got free NAPOLI shirts so that made it extra special.  This was Samantha's first professional sports game.

Samantha was so excited today because she was making her first trip to the real Texas Rangers Ballpark to see the Rangers play.  After all, she's been there once.....at Legoland!

Look what I found!  Becky and I loved the Cherry Ames books when we were growing up.  Found this in more of the things Mom kept for us.  Passing it on to my granddaughters.

I Can't Believe It!

Today when Dustin came home with his chemical lab goggles, gloves, etc, it hit me that my grandson, after finals next week, will have completed his first year of college!  I really am getting old!

Lindsay Our Volleyball Player

Congratulations to Lindsay for playing so well in the Nationals last week in Kansas City.  Her team was a little off and didn't win any titles but Lindsay played very well so congratulations to her.  If she doesn't get injured and continues to play well, Grandma Linda expects to see her playing in college on a scholarship!  She's that good, so say the experts.  And I am not an expert!

Baby Cowgirl

Looking at this picture today wondering at how the time flies.  Hard to believe Samantha, the baby in our family, is 7 and almost finished with 1st grade.  She is such a blessing to us all and we hate to see her grow up so fast, but that is how life works!  The school sent home papers last week asking permission to test her for advanced classes next year.  Way to go, Samantha!

So Proud Of Lauren and Her National Merit Scholarship Score

So proud of Lauren.  She received her letter from the National Merit Scholarship Corp.  She is one of the highest scoring 50,000 of total 1.5 million.  Congratulations Lauren!  Baylor will be proud to have you in another year. (She didn't get those brains from her Grandma Linda, that's for sure!)

Here she is with Dustin last year at his graduation.  Next year it will be her in the cap and gown!

Competition Gets Underway Today

Yesterday was practice day for Lindsay and the Tejas volleyball team at the Nationals in Kansas City.  Today the competition begins so GOOD LUCK LINDSAY AND TEJAS!  Here is their National's picture.

The Penta

This picture shows Mark Judah, the late Mike Bridwell, and Steve on the front of The Penta, our houseboat we kept on Lake Monroe during the late 70s & early 80s before we moved to Texas.  I hate the water but loved the houseboat.  Steve went through a skiboat, cabin cruiser, and a smaller houseboat before he found something I would get on.  Finally found this 42-ft all steel houseboat down on the Ohio River that I felt comfortable on.  There are very few things I miss about life in Indiana; this boat is one of them.

My Last Picture at the World Trade Center Pre 9/11

This is last of my pre 9/11 WTC pictures.  I didn't go there often but it was a beautiful oasis in a busy city.  I can't imagine the hate that destroyed it.

Another Pre 9/11 WTC Picture

I have had a lot of response to the picture I posted of the sculpture at the World Trade Center pre 9/11.  I thought I would also share this picture taken the same day from inside one of the Towers.  Unfortunately I didn't write on the back of the picture which tower it was, so I'm not sure if this was tower I or II.  It saddens me everytime I think about the destruction and especially all the innocent lives lost that day.

Carlos Enjoying A Day at Sea Life (With Dustin)

There is not much Carlos enjoys more than spending time with Dustin.  So for his 12th birthday, his gift from grandma is a day at Sea Life for just him and Dustin.

Good luck to Lindsay and her middle school problem solving team.  I can't remember the initials that go with this but it is a team that are given problems to solve in competition with teams from other schools.  Her team has made it to state and is in Austin this weekend competing.  If they win state, they will go to Indianapolis or Bloomington this summer to the international competition.  Wouldn't that be something?

Today is Becky's Birthday!

My sister Becky is celebrating her birthday today.  She will never see this as she doesn't use computers but wanted to wish her a happy birthday here anyway!  Too bad she won't see this picture of her as a baby.

SCULPTURE AT THE WORLD TRADE CENTER BEFORE 9/11

As most of you know, I had a company supplied apartment in New York City back in the 1980s.  A few days ago I heard that this sculpture, which was damaged but survived the 9/11 attacks, is being placed in storage at JFK airport to allow for some construction in the memorial area.  That made me remember this picture I took while I was living there.  Thought it would be nice to share it.

This was such a nice spot in the city.  This is a reminder of what the terrorist destroyed.

Carlos - This Weeks Birthday Boy

Carlos will be 12 tomorrow so he is fair game for grandma's punishment today.  This is a picture from school when his PE class did a series on Ballroom Dancing.  The girl was one of his dance partners, have no idea of her name.  He was not overly thrilled to have grandma there taking pictures for the big end-of-the-series performance!

My Lilies

Took this picture of my lilies today after the rain.  The lilies remind me of Easter with all its meaning.  The red reminds me of Jesus shed blood.  Perfect for Easter.  Today they also signify strength and beauty after the storms last week and the thunderstorm today.  Great flowers.

Easter Bunny

No Easter pictures to post this year.  I didn't go to the Easter Egg hunt because I stayed home with Steve yesterday as he wasn't feeling very well.  Today we had a terrible storm during church, even knocked out the power to the church during the service, so we got drenched leaving the church.  Here are pictures from a program at the Grapevine Library last year.

CARLOS ABOUT TO TURN 12

Carlos is our birthday boy this month.  He will turn 12 next week.  Here he is this past Christmas helping his cousin open Christmas gifts.

One of my mom's favorite annual rituals was pictures in the wildflowers.  This is a picture of her, Dustin-age 4, and Lindsay-age 2 in 1997.  Taken along Highway 114 in Las Colinas.

Beautiful Texas Wildflowers

Springtime in Texas brings out the most beautiful wildflowers!  Every Spring the bluebonnets remind me of mom.  She loved driving around and taking pictures of them.

Carlos is This Month's Birthday Boy

Next week Carlos will be celebrating his birthday.  He loves playing football and is a good player.  Last year his team was undefeated including the playoffs.  Here he is with his trophy (a little blurry, Samantha took the picture!)
