AUTOGRAPH BOOK PAGE

Found this old autograph book page in some of moms' things. I love it. It is dated November 8, 1940. It was written in moms' book by Mary Walters who was dating my uncle Kelsie Hawkins. They later married and had a son and daughter who are both gone now. One of their grandsons died this year and I am in facebook contact with some of their grandchildren. Several of them, like me, have left Indiana so we seldom see each other but thankfully facebook has allowed us to reconnect. Loved Uncle Kelsie, Aunt Mary and Cousins Joey and Judy so much. Miss them.

This was written in pencil so it is pretty faded out.

Dustin Ready for TV

Dustin is very excited that he will be at a live taping of the Glenn Beck Show today. It is a show where Glenn and Mike Rowe will be visiting with some high school and college students, possibly some recent graduates, too. He reluctantly allowed me to get a couple of pictures before he left for the studio. I am thankful I have a large monitor on my desktop since we will have to watch on the internet since Verizon doesn't carry The Blaze. I was lucky and got a one month trial subscription for $1 and it started immediately.

We are so proud of Dustin for taking advantage of this opportunity. He is on the Autistic Spectrum and doesn't normally do anything like this. This was his idea and he has handled it all by himself. We are hoping he enjoys this and will step out more.  Evidently it is an open topic show as he got an email this morning to reply with any questions he might have for either Glenn or Mike or both.

So Glad Christy Likes to Make Things

I am so thankful Christy enjoys crafts since I do not anymore. I used to but my arthritic fingers and poor muscle control have spoiled the fun for me. She has been busy recently making some really pretty lamp oil candles. Here are some samples. Aren't they pretty? I am buying a few of these for the Cornerstone, our book and gift store at the church.

Lindsay and Samantha Celebrating Lindsay's 16th Birthday

These two are my bakers and have a special bond formed while baking together. Here they are celebrating Lindsay's birthday, after a V-ball game, of course. Love my grandkids.

Lindsay and Samantha Enjoying Cake Pops

I think the cake pops passed the taste test. I was told they were yummy.

Samantha Baking For Lindsay's 16th Birthday

Last Friday we picked Samantha up at school and brought her home with us so she could bake for Lindsay's birthday the next day. Here she is with her creations of Oreo Pudding/Chocolate Cake Pops and Chocolate Cupcakes with Oreo Pudding Filling. I have always called Lindsay my Ladybug so Samanth decorated the cupcakes with Ladybugs. This was a lot of work for a 9-year-old's after school activity. But she worked hard and completed 8 pops and 12 cupcakes. Then we spent the entire day in Arlington at Lindsay's Volleyball Tournament on Saturday. Sure wish Grandma had some of Samantha's energy!

Proud of #40

Tonight we are so proud of Carlos. His 9th grade football team played Richland and Carlos scored the only touchdown! YES! Way to go Carlos. Harwood won the game 7-6. Harwood Blackhawks are in the black and the Richland Rebels are in the red, white, and blue uniforms.

IN MEMORY

This Sunday is the anniversary of my dad's birth. He was born September 21, 1922 and he left us suddenly on April 9, 1989. I miss him so much and I am especially sorry he never got to meet any of his great-grandchildren. They would have been very special to him. Dustin proudly carries on his middle name, Wayne, and Lindsay was almost born on his birthday. Lindsay's birthday is the 20th.

LINDSAY AT MAM-MAM'S HOUSE IN INDIANA

In June of 2000 we surprised my mom by showing up in Indiana to celebrate her 75th birthday. She had no idea we were coming and was at her neighbors when we arrived. The grandkids loved her country home and yard with all its flowers and yard art. One of their favorite things to do was to blow bubbles and chase them (you can tell that by the size of the bottle of bubbles). Love this picture of this months' birthday girl in her little denim hat with that big bottle of bubbles. This was the last time the kids got to really play at her house and enjoy the yard with her as she had her stroke the following year. Lots of memories in this picture.

Lindsay - July 2000

Our September birthday girl - Lindsay - a couple months before she turned 2. Getting her lotion on before getting in the pool. Hard to believe this little girl who wasn't too sure about the water is now a water dog who loves snorkeling all over the world. Happy Birthday month, Lindsay.

SIC 'EM BEARS

Samantha loves going to the Baylor Football games with the Harts. She was at a sleepover at the church all night Friday night, came home Saturday morning and rested a little then headed to Waco with Cindy, Rodney, and Lindsay for the Bears game. She's getting the sic 'em bears hand signals down pat. Here she is at the Hart house ready to head out.

Lindsay Summer 2000

This is one of my favorite pictures of Lindsay.  She was sitting on the deck of our cabin in the Great Smokey Mountains.
M&Ms are enough to make anyone smile.

Mid 80s at JCP Plano, Texas

I was not pleased when one of the people who worked for me called my name and I saw the camera in his hand! This was when I worked in Personnel at the JCPenney store in Plano, Texas before I went to NYC. This was a fun job as I went to work in the store when it was still a hard hat area. The offices were done but anytime we left the offices we had to wear hard hats. It was quite a job to hire and train approximately 300 people but it was fun.

GEORGE WILSON FAMILY June 1989

This is a picture of George and Ilene Wilson with their children, in-laws, and grandchildren that was taken in June of 1989. Cindy Wilson (Hart) is the only one not pictured. I can't remember why. Maybe she was back in Texas involved with a job or something at Baylor. Or perhaps Troy had stopped by and she left with him. Do you remember, Cindy?

Left to right (not by row) - Doug Hanner, Trina Ritter (Hanner), Janet Wilson (Ritter), Ron Ritter, Stacy Ritter, Christy Wilson (Bowman), Chad Wilson, Steve Wilson, Linda (Sowders) Wilson, Kristen Wilson, Becky Wilson (Barrett) holding her daughter Gina and arm around son Derrick, Eddie Barrett, Ilene (Watson) Wilson holding grandson Tyler, George Wilson, and Donald Wilson.

Note: You can enlarge picture by clicking on it.

JULY 2000

Since Lindsay is the birthday girl this month she is the lucky one with the old pictures! Yes, I am even willing to post this horrible picture of me all bloated up before some colon surgery just to put this cute picture of her on here. We were at DFW Airport at the overlook park watching the planes come in. She was quite fascinated to see the planes up close. Love this girl and can't believe she is a few days from being 16.

Me, Lindsay, Family Friend Mary Sicking, Mom or Mam-Mam to Lindsay.

LAUREN AND SORORITY FRIENDS

Our Baylor girl and friends. Hard to believe she is already in her second year. Wishing you a great year, Lauren!
