The Last Concert

Again we enjoyed a great concert by the Grapevine High School Choir.  As is the tradition, at the end of the concert the director individually introduces each of the "Singing Seniors".  As they are introduced another choir member steps out and gives them a gift.  Here is Lauren with a few of her friends and the beautiful roses she was given.  So thankful Lauren has got to enjoy such a successful four years with the choir.

I love this school's choir tradition of closing their year-end concert with The Lord Bless You and Keep You!

Bittersweet Tonight

For the last four years we have enjoyed several concerts by Lauren and her fellow award-winning GHS choir members.  This evening we will be going to her last choir concert.  While we are looking forward to the evening, it will also be a bittersweet time.  The choir director checked the records and this is the first time in the 100-year history of Grapevine High School that the choir has won first place in every competition, including national and international competitions, they competed in.  So glad Lauren got to be a part of that choir.

LINDSAY IN HIGH SCHOOL BAND

Lindsay auditioned for the high school band a couple of weeks ago.  She is now a Grapevine High School Band member!  So proud of her as she was one of only 6 freshmen who made it into the highest band for her instrument.  Way to go Lindsay!  In the picture below, she is shown standing for recognition at the recent CTMS Spring Band Concert.

Enjoy Your Holiday Weekend But Don't Forget Those Who Gave All!

As you go about your holiday weekend it is important to remember those who gave all for our freedoms which allow you to do whatever you want on a daily basis.  A high price has been paid by many men, women, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, husbands, wives, fathers and mothers.  Say a pray for the families of the men and women we have lost.  Their lives have been changed forever.

YEAH LINDSAY! What are the odds?

Four years ago Lauren graduated from Cross Timbers Middle School ranked #7 in the top 10 of her 8th grade class.  Since that day Lindsay's goal has been to tie or beat Lauren's ranking.  I just returned from Lindsay's Honor Day program and what are the odds?  Lindsay is graduating from Cross Timbers Middle School ranked #7 out of 275 students.  The picture below shows her receiving her certificate and plaque.  Congratulations Lindsay!  We are so proud of you that you were able to get this GPA while traveling with the band and all over the United States with volleyball!

Lindsay's Last Middle School Band Concert

Last night we enjoyed Lindsay's last middle school band concert and it was very good.  They played some high school pieces and did an excellent job.  I am glad she has decided to go ahead with band at the high school.  We will miss Lauren's choir concerts next year but we will have Lindsay's band concerts.  Now I am looking forward to her award's day on Friday.  She knows she is in the top 20 in her class but doesn't know her ranking yet.  Lauren graduated from middle school #7 in her class so Lindsay is anxious to see where she ranks.

Here is a picture from last night.  I am not the best photographer and it is hard to get pictures there but at least I got some.

Hannah & Lauren Headed to BU

Valerie, in the blue shirt, is a beloved teacher at Timberline Elementary School.  This school is just a couple of blocks from our house.  Christy and Chad both attended this school and Lauren and Lindsay are both graduates of TES.  I love these pictures, especially the one of Hannah (Valerie's daughter) and Lauren holding the BU glass.  TES is no doubt proud to have Valerie, a Baylor University graduate, on their staff as well as a couple of their alumni, Hannah and Lauren, heading to BU this fall.  Hannah and Lauren will be Baylor University Roommates their Freshman year.

Excitement and Dread

As you all know by now, Lauren will be graduating from Grapevine High School in a few weeks.  I am looking forward to that evening with excitement and dread.  As with Dustin's graduation, I will be crying when Lauren walks in to take her seat.  In fact I am getting teary-eyed just typing this.  My mom loved her great-grandkids so much and being with them is why she did so well after her massive stroke.  She was so proud of them and felt they had bright futures.  And wouldn't you know it, they graduate right at her birthday.      I can just hear her saying that watching them graduate is the best birthday present she could ever get.  Her birthday is June 7.  Look at the date on this ticket!  When Dustin walked in two years ago and I started bawling Lauren was sitting across the aisle from me.  She looked at me and chuckled.  I mouthed to her, "Just wait your turn is coming."  Now it is her turn and I will have to pack a load of tissues in my purse again.

Lauren, Mam-mam would be so proud of you graduating #13 out of over 500 students.

Mother's Day Craft

A family friend gave Samantha some crafts to make for Mary for Mother's Day.  Here she is with her mother and the teapot picture holder.  Now we have to get a copy of the picture to put inside the holder.  She was so proud of this.

Thank you Mrs. Darla.  You made her day!

66 Years Old

Every year I get my picture with the girls on my birthday.  I told them today that I must be shrinking!  Every year I look shorter next to them.  With Cindy, Lindsay, and Lauren.

Thank you Harts for the Android Tablet and other goodies.  And thank you Rodney for the instructions in how to use the tablet.

(Can't wait for September to enjoy mine and Samantha's gift!)

Chad Made Me a Birthday Cake!

Since tomorrow is my birthday and Sunday is Mother's Day Chad and family took me to dinner tonight.  I am so proud to say I raised a son who would make his mother a cake for her birthday!  Didn't he do a good job?  It was  really good, too.  He said he put 66 dots on it.  Thank goodness he didn't put 66 of those sparkler candles.  I know I wouldn't have had enough air to blow them out!  And the center candle played "Happy Birthday."

Where Has The Time Gone?

Life sure does have a way of flying by!  Yesterday at church one of the ladies was introducing me to her young grandson.  I told her I had seven grandchildren ages 8 through 20.  Reflecting on that later I couldn't hardly believe my grandchildren are all so grown up.  Tomorrow Dustin will take his last final of his second year of college.  Lauren is in the last month of high school.  It is almost enough to make grandma sit down and cry.  I am so proud of both of them.  Both have many accomplishments and make me proud to say I am their grandmother.  But looking back I just think where did the time go?  Here is a picture of my two young adults when they were grandma's babies!  They really enjoyed this July 2001 vacation.
