Dustin, Dustin, Dustin!!

Dustin loves Cane's, a chicken chain here.  Today we dropped him at school and left for errands.  Got back an hour later and he was in the library reading and waiting for us.  As soon as he saw us he said, "I didn't take my white pill this morning because I want to stop at Cane's!"  I couldn't believe he did that!  It's a good thing his class was cancelled today because the white pill is the one that keeps him calm and able to concentrate.  It also takes away his appetite and he knows it.  Obviously we stopped at Cane's.  He got the big meal and ate almost all of it!  Guess I'm going to have to pay more attention when he takes his medicine!

Grandkids!!

Grandkids, you gotta love 'em!  Even though sometimes you want to wring their necks!!  We are supposed to be picking Carlos up at his school everyday this week and next at 4:45.  He wants to run track and needs a ride home after practice.  No problem; it's out of the way but that's okay.  So yesterday Chad calls and says, "Carlos forgot he has a meet today so don't go to get him we will pick him up after the meet."  Great, no problem and one less trip to Bedford and then Euless.  Today we are 3/4 of the way to his school about 30 minutes before pick-up time.  My cell phone rings and the caller ID says it is Chad.  When I answer he says, "Seems Carlos forget practice was cancelled today.  He's already home."

I think Carlos has a problem with his memory or sense of responsibility.  I think he and grandma are about to have a conversation on his sense of responsiblility or he may get a lesson in such when he has to walk home!  I hate how irresponsible some kids are today and I do not intend for my grandson to be one, no matter how he has to learn that lesson!  After all, he's not a baby.  He's in the 7th grade!

Samantha Loved The Opry

Samantha's trip to the Opry was a hit!  She loved the whole experience from riding to the second floor in the elevator to the music and visiting with the "stars."  I wish I'd taken my camera.  We sat in the balcony and she stood at the railing part of the time singing right along with whom ever was on stage.  She sat next to one of the performer's husband and enjoyed him chatting with her about music and his girls.  When Cathy came to visit with us during intermission and brought us some CDs, Samantha felt very important.  They will be taping some RFD-TV shows there next month and I hope I can take her for a little of it.  Too bad she will be in school those days.  Taping goes till 7 pm so we might make a little of it.  I know she would be fascinated by that.
The Grapevine Opry/Palace Theatre in Downtown Grapevine.  One of my favorite things about Grapevine is how well we preserve our buildings and history here.  I believe the theatre was built in the 1940s.

Sure is nice that Aunt Cindy's girls are all grown up and she still likes buying things for little girls!  Thank you Cindy for my pretty new pink outfit.  It fits perfectly!  Love you, Samantha.

Oh Yes!

My How the Years Fly By!

I know Lauren's birthday was yesterday but I just have to get one more post in here about her over the years.  She has always been the performer.  From her early years having her Grandma Gayle announce, "Herrrrreeeeee's Lauren!" to some great performances in Italy, including the Vatican, she has been our shining star!  Love you, Lauren.  You are a joy to us all!

Today is a Special Day!

Today is a special day in the Wilson family!  41 years ago today on a very cold Indiana February morning, we welcomed our second daughter into our family.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY Christy Ann!!
A birthday during her teen years!

Twenty-three years later was another very exciting day in our family as we welcomed our first granddaughter!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY Lauren Raylee Hart.  Christy was so excited to be getting a neice or nephew for her birthday that she beat Cindy to the hospital!!  I will never forget her going out and buying a pretty plant and getting two sticks to go into it.  One for a boy and one for a girl so she would be all set for whatever we got!  (Would you believe 18 years ago we still sometimes didn't know the sex?)
Grandma's Angel Girl!

As you can imagine, February 17 is a very special day in our family as that is the day we got two of our very special girls!

TAKING ANGEL GIRL A BIRTHDAY LUNCH

Since Lauren's Birthday is on Sunday this year and since this is her last year at the high school, I will take her a birthday lunch today.  She has placed her order right down to the ketchup!  I do have a surprise for her though, a white chocolate raspberry bundlet.  Will miss this tradition when she is away at college next February!

My Beautiful Little Girls

Forty-one years ago today I was so hoping I would have my new baby the next day on Valentine's Day.  Much to my disappointment she didn't arrive until the 17th.  Here she is 4 months later with her big sister.

Lauren's Next to Last High School Concert

Bittersweet thoughts last night as I went to Lauren's next to last high school concert.  So enjoyed it but at the same time I sat in the church knowing it would be the last night I would go there to see and hear Lauren in choir.  Both of the high schools combined to perform GLORIA by Vivaldi.  It was quite an opportunity for the kids to perform with a professional DFW Orchestra whose members drove from all over the metroplex to be here. The performance was great and it was obvious they had spent many hours in practice.

We will get to enjoy one more concert when they perform their Spring Concert at the high school in a couple of months.  Then Lauren will be graduating and moving on to college.  Like I said, bittersweet!

Samantha's First Trip to a Hair Salon

Samantha was so excited about her first visit to the hair salon yesterday.  She felt so big and so pampered.  She wanted to be sure I showed off the little flip Mrs. Traci put on the ends of her hair.  You made her day, Traci!

Lindsay and Her Great Grandpa

Cindy's girls were very lucky for years with having several sets of grandparents.  Now they have lost all their great-grandparents but one.  Rodney's maternal grandfather is 87 now and just lost his wife a couple of months ago.  He lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  This past weekend he came to Dallas with Rodney's aunt and went to see Lindsay play a volleyball tournament.  I wasn't there but believe he got to see some good games.  I know Lindsay's team won the first two anyway.

Here is Lindsay and her Grandpa T.  What a great picture and memory for her to treasure!

Happy 18th Sarah

Sorry Sarah.  For some crazy reason, probably because I'm crazy, I was thinking your birthday was today.  You would think I could remember Feb 1!  So proud of you.  You are a beautiful young lady with a heart of gold.  Enjoy your 18th year with all the excitement of a high school graduation and going to OU where you will be a standout, I'm sure.  Love you, girl!

February Girls

I can't believe we are already in February!  Is time actually going faster or it is just because I am getting older and don't realize where it has gone?!!  We have two birthday girls this month and their birthdays are on the same day!  Lauren was born on her Aunt Christy's birthday.  I don't think I have ever seen Christy any more excited than she was when she got a niece for her birthday!!  Anyway they will have to share the limelight this month.  I will start with a beautiful picture of Lauren from this past summer when she was being "A Lady in Spain!"

Happy Birthday Month Angel Girl!
