Goodbye to CTMS Sports

Monday night we attended our last sports event at Cross Timbers Middle School.  Lauren played basketball and volleyball there and Lindsay played volleyball there for three years and basketball for one year.  We have enjoyed going to the games and watching our granddaughters play but life marches on.  Lindsay has her tourney this weekend but it will be held at a school in Coppell so goodbye CTMS Black Gym.

Lindsay is not in this picture.  I took this picture to get a shot of her poster on the wall.  Each of the girls made their own poster at the beginning of the season and they hung on the gym walls through the season.  Thank you Lindsay Hart #16 for 3 years of fun games!

We Have a New Baylor Bear

So happy to have Lauren following in her mother's footsteps!  Congratulations Lauren!  All your hard work has paid off.  Your family is so very proud of you!

Congratulations Lauren

Lauren works so hard and loves school.  So happy how her hard work has paid off for her!  She had a large psychology test today and made the class high of 106.  Way to go Lauren!

Had to interrupt her homework last February to give her a DVD for Valentine's Day.

She Did It Again!

Proud to say Lindsay made it through all three auditions and is now a member of the Regional Band.  I'm not sure the numbers who tried out but it was over a thousand.  Also don't know how many were clarinets.  But I am sure that is quite an achievement!  So proud of you Ladybug!

Our Copy of Lauren's Senior Picture

This is the picture Lauren picked for us from her group of senior pictures.  Can't believe I now have senior pictures of two grandkids.  Time sure flies when you are having fun!

Love My Ladybug!

Excited for Lindsay.  I posted earlier about her making district band.  This week she had tryouts for regional band.  She made it through the first round and has been called back for the second round of tryouts.  GOOD LUCK, LADYBUG!

I don't know how she does it!  She makes straight As in all advanced classes, keeps up with the band activities and plays volleyball at school and in a league that travels all over (her last out-of-state tournament was in Kansas City!)  She is also an active member of her church youth group.  Glad I'm not in charge of keeping up with her!

And she always has a smile on her face!  Love you, girl.

Lindsay In Action

Lindsay in action at yesterday's volleyball game.  Guess I don't understand what I know, or something like that, about sports.  Don't know how they got that score.  I thought they only went to 25.  Anyway I took this picture for Lindsay of the 28 (her team) to 8 score.

The best server on the team!  The coach holds up a sign where to put the ball and she puts it right there!

Ready for action.  (On the end next to the coach.)
Don't they look great in their "Fighting Cancer" shirts?

The final score I'm not smart enough to understand!

Another Chapter About to End!

This afternoon will be the next to last regular season volleyball game for Lindsay as a middle school player at Cross Timbers.  We have really enjoyed her games and hope to be able to make it to these last two.  She is an excellent player and is expected to play at the high school in the future.  Just hate to see these chapters end and realize how old my grandchildren really are!  This is Lauren's last year at the high school and next year will be Lindsay's first year there.  Where oh where does the time go?

Everything from Aunt Becky is Always Extra Special

Loved her "8" candle because Aunt Becky sent it from Indiana!

Excited to see the number 8 doll for her collection from Aunt Becky.

Congratulations Lindsay!

So proud of Lindsay.  Yesterday after being in volleyballs games all morning she went straight to auditions for district band.  She got 4th chair clarinet (out of around 30 clarinets)!  So proud of you, Lindsay!

Last Days as a 7-Year-Old

Took Samantha to the Grapevine Library today.  Got a couple pictures of her outside the front door.  The sun made it hard to get decent pictures.  But now we have a last picture of her as a 7-year-old.  She will be 8 on Monday the 22nd.

Mary With Her Present From Samantha

Mary loves to do needlepoint.  Samantha was so proud of the birthday gift she gave her mommy.  She picked out this needlepoint book and paid for it herself for her mommy's birthday.

Love The Things Samantha Says

Today after church I was eating lunch with Chad, Mary, Carlos, Isabell, and Samantha.  The kids had just gotten report cards and Carlos was talking about Spanish and his grade in that class.  Samantha, sitting across the table from me, looked up at me and said, "Grandma, I didn't get all hundreds but I passed everything."  Since she is an excellent student and won the Principal's Award I was curious about the "passed everything" part of her remarks.  But she quickly continued on with, "You don't pass if you get lower than 60."  Now she is really getting my curiosity up so I said, "Well as long as you passed everything that's okay."  Chad clued me in when he said, "Yes, little Miss 3 grades that weren't 100 (they get lots of grades in the 2nd grade), a 99, 98, and 97 aren't too bad."  What made it so cute was her being so serious about it.  She really wanted to reassure me that she had passed everything!

Lauren at Grapevine High's Homecoming Friday Night

Our beautiful granddaughter Lauren at Grapevine High School homecoming last Friday night.  Hard to believe next year she will be an alumni.  Where does the time go?  One grandchild in second year of college, another a high school senior.  Even our baby girl is in 2nd grade.  Surely we aren't that old!

Enjoyed Lindsay's volleyball game last evening.  Love watching her play, especially when they win as they did yesterday!  She is #16 in the foreground next to the net.

Carlos With His Fish

A friend just gave me this picture taken of Carlos back in 2010 on a Father/Son outing with the church.  He was so proud of this fish so I thought I would post this for him.

Old Bedford Bridge

I saw this picture on Pinterest and it immediately reminded me of the old Guthrie Bridge over Salt Creek that was in sight of my childhood home.  I remember my grandmother taking me there to throw rocks into the water and the rumble when cars drove over it when you were down by the water fishing.  I love living in the city now but I wouldn't trade my country upbringing for anything.  A part of me hated it when they tore the old bridge down.  Many, many, years later, I miss that old bridge.

This picture just said it was an old Bridge in Bedford, Indiana.  Does anyone know which bridge it is?

Dustin Taste-Testing New Muffins

Last night I decided to try something new for my diabetic sweet tooth.  This is a picture of Dustin taste-testing my still warm from the oven Diabetic-Friendly Pumpkin Sticky-Buns.  I guessed they passed with flying colors since he ate three of them before I stopped him with a reminder those were my diabetic muffins and I planned to enjoy them for at least a couple of days!

He is wearing the shirt Cindy and Lauren brought back to him from their trip to Italy last Spring.

So Proud of Lauren

Pep session just ended at GHS and I am very proud to say Lauren and a few others were recognized as being National Merit Commended Students in the top 2% nationally!  That is in the top 2% of the 1.5 to 2 million who took the qualifying exam.  I am one proud grandma!

Love The Dallas Arboretum!

One of my favorite places to go in Dallas is the Dallas Arboretum.  I haven't been there yet this Fall but this is Cinderella's Pumpkin Village from a year or two ago.

The Star Spangled Banner

Tonight I heard what I believe was the best rendition I have ever heard of The Star Spangled Banner.  I am proud to say it was sung by Lauren and her fellow choir members at GHS at their Fall Concert.  Great job kids!

Carlos and His Harwood Jr High Team 3 - 0!

Since Chad or Mary couldn't make the game today, Steve and I went.  Now understand I don't like football and since I don't care for it, I don't pay enough attention to know much about it.  So lucky me, I go to the most boring football game probably ever played! Late in the 3rd quarter the score was still 0 - 0.  Finally Harwood scored late in the 3rd quarter or sometime in the 4th quarter.  Fortunately Hurst never scored so Harwood is still undefeated.  Here is #30 (in white), doing whatever it is they do in football!

Good job, Carlos!
