Samantha & Isabell In Their New Caps

Last night Samantha and Isabell had an overnight evening at church at the sectional Girls Ministry Sleepover.  When we picked them up this morning, they were tired but excited from their evening of fun.  Here they are pictured wearing the new caps they decorated.  (And they refuse to wash the facepaint off!)

This is a picture of Samantha with the "Whale" magnetic memo holder she made me during last night's crafts.

So glad they had this opportunity to spend the evening with other Christian girls having fun!

Craving Peach Cobbler

Today I just really craved some peach cobbler so I headed to the kitchen and came up with one for my diabetic self.  After tasting it I made a couple of tweaks to the recipe but decided it worked pretty good and did satisfy my craving.  That is the worst part of having diabetes, sometimes you just think you have to have one of your old favorite treats.  Well anyway, it sure tasted better than no peach cobbler!

Another Good Game for Carlos!

Carlos had another good night last night in Football.  His Junior High team played their second game and won 23-0.  He scored 2 touchdowns and caught a 2-point conversion pass.  I don't know much about football but I know enough to know that he did good!  Congratulations, Carlos.  Way to go!

Children's Church Outing

Samantha and Isabell with a group of their children's church friends on their outing yesterday after church.  They went to Cici's Pizza then to a trampoline gym for some fun.  Samantha is in the front with her hands shading her eyes and Isabell is in the back row under the long window.

Lindsay on Her 14th Birthday

Lindsay at her volleyball game last Thursday.  The game was on her 14th birthday.

Sorry Lindsay that the game was played at Southlake and we have the big dragon for background!  Since Uncle Chad is a Southlake grad, he will be proud!

My Dad

90 years ago today Harold Wayne Sowders was born.  65 years ago I was lucky to be born his daughter.  My dad was a great dad and I miss him even though we lost him in 1989.  I will miss him always.  One of my greatest regrets is that he never lived to see my grandchildren.  I know he and they would have been best buddies!  Most of all I am thankful for the way my dad, along with my mom, raised me and my sister.  I look forward to being reunited with him one day.

This is a picture taken of him a few days before he died.

Happy Birthday Dad.  I love you and miss you constantly.

Happy Birthday Lindsay!

Happy Birthday today to our beautiful granddaughter Lindsay.  Fourteen years ago this evening God added another blessing to our lives.  She is beautiful both inside and out, a top volleyball player, honors band member, top 10 student, and all-around great girl.  And best of all she is grandma's Ladybug.  My Ladybug's Sweet Treats blog is named after her as she is one of my bakers.

Love You Ladybug!

Carlos' 1st Jr High Football Game

Today Carlos played his first Junior High football game.  His Harwood Blackhawks beat Euless Junior High 12-0.  He played both offense and defense and Chad said he played an awesome game.  I don't understand the first thing about football but Chad said he carried for about 40 yards and made some awesome tackles; sounds good to me.

CONGRATULATIONS CARLOS!

Today's Projects

Samantha spent the weekend with us so you know that means spending time in the kitchen.  Her remark to me yesterday was, "Grandma, when you are gone - cause you know normally grandparents die before grandkids - I will know how to be a good grandma when it is my time to be one.  'Cause you know, well you have taught me how to do all this and I can teach mine."  She was cutting up potatoes at that time.  We also made a cake for Dustin and some cupcakes.  Here is today's projects; an apple crumb pie and a peach cobbler for daddy.  (Looks like it might be a little cinnamony!)  But she did these all by herself.  She also helped make the chili in the black pot so she wanted it in the picture, too!

Lindsay's Volleyball Season

Today is the first game of Lindsay's school volleyball season.  Thankfully she is on the A team which plays second.  We should be able to get there immediately after college.  Love watching her play and her home games are just across the street from us.  Go Wolves!

This is her team after winning the championship in the district tourney.  Lindsay is #18.

Three of My Favorite Girls

Just came across this picture of three of my favorite girls taken last year when I took them to The Great Wolf Lodge.  Glad they got to have that time together since spending time with Steffinee is rare.

I Am So Excited!

I just found out that a Filipino Nurses association printed one of my medical articles!  If you would like to read it, go to this link http://filipinonurses.org/index.php/2012 Yes, that is in English!

You probably think I am crazy to be so excited but, hey, at my age this is a big deal!

Graduation Date

Just found out Lauren's graduation will be on June 6, the day before mom's birthday.  Dustin's was on the 4th and I cried like a silly women in the midst of everyone else celebrating.  I could just hear mom saying to him, "Buddy, your graduation is the best birthday gift you could give Mam-mam!"  How am I going to make it through Lauren's on the 6th?  Lauren looked at me and sort of laughed when I cried at Dustin's.  I told her I would get even with her and cry at hers too.  Had no idea how true that will probably be!

Good grief, I have tears running down my face just typing this!  Lord help this crazy woman!

Grapevine Mustang - Senior '2013

I love this picture.  It says so much; pretty girl, school emblem, and her car she drives to school - all in one.  Good thinking Cindy and Lauren.

Visit With Mark

Enjoyed having my cousin Mark Sowders from Indiana visit this afternoon.  He worked in Ft Worth this week and spent the afternoon with us before his flight back to Indy.  Never thought he would be sitting at my table in Grapevine.  Thanks, Mark, for stopping by and for the pizza.
